Yosemite Wedding Photographer

I’m Sara, the heart behind Desert Born Studios.

These days, I live ten minutes outside Yosemite National Park, but I grew up in the deserts of Southern Utah and that red sandstone still lives in my bones.

The desert is where I learned to pay attention to light, space, and quiet. Even when I’m somewhere green and wild, a part of me is always carrying that wide-open desert home in my soul.

Outside of photographing weddings and elopements, I’m a dancer, snowboarder, mom, wife, and forever wanderer. I love exploring new places, getting a little lost, and finding the kind of peace you only get after a long hike especially if there’s a broken granola bar involved by a riverbank.

The outdoors isn’t a backdrop for me; it’s where I reset, where I breathe deeper, where everything softens.

The way I photograph comes from that same place. I move with the day, pay attention to the small shifts in energy, and make room for things to unfold without forcing them.

I care about people first, places second, and the space between the two most of all.

Whether we’re in Yosemite, the desert, or somewhere that stops you in your tracks, my goal is simple: help you feel at ease, stay present, and walk away with something that feels like your day actually felt.

They Said it, not me

Adventurous couples look no further!!

When we hired Sara as our wedding photographer, we had no idea that we would want to adopt her as a new best friend. In a very saturated market of wedding photographers, Sara undoubtedly stands out above the rest. She took the time to get familiar with us and learn about who we are as a couple and you can see that represented in each photo she took. Our photos are so uniquely us and they tell a story. I loved that she allowed movement and silliness in her shoots and didn’t force us into a box of generic poses. During our engagement shoot, we felt like we were just hanging out with a friend. We felt comfortable and fell in love with every single photo she took. My husband and I have a hard time describing what we want in photos and it felt like she just read our minds. She also delivers sneak peeks in such a timely manner and is an excellent communicator. If we could have Sara capture every major life event we would. She is an absolute delight and an incredible human. We cannot recommend her enough.
