As an adventure elopement photographer, I’ve captured love stories in these wild places. Couples exchange vows beneath towering cliffs, among ancient sequoias, or beside shimmering alpine lakes. These landscapes are more than just beautiful backdrops—they are irreplaceable treasures that inspire millions and deserve our protection.
The Threat to National Parks and Forests
Right now, our national parks and national forests are under threat. Federal park employees are facing layoffs, budgets are being slashed, and vital protections are being stripped away. The very lands where we find adventure, love, and connection are at risk. If we don’t act, the places we cherish—Zion, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, and beyond—could suffer irreversible harm.
Why Protecting These Wild Places Matters
National parks and forests are more than just travel destinations. They are places where people come to reconnect with nature and where families make lifelong memories. Additionally, they are where adventure couples celebrate their love in the great outdoors. As a national park elopement photographer, I’ve seen firsthand how these landscapes enhance love stories. They bring an unmatched sense of freedom and authenticity to each moment.
Every time I raise my camera in these spaces, I am reminded of their importance. The way the light filters through the trees at sunrise, the wind dancing across the desert, the awe-inspiring scale of towering rock formations—these are experiences that can’t be replicated. Protecting these wild places means ensuring future generations can also stand in wonder beneath a star-filled sky or say “I do” with the Grand Canyon stretching endlessly behind them.

If you want to take action, there are nationwide protests happening to stand up for our national parks and forests. On March 1, 2025, demonstrations will take place at Arches, Zion, Capitol Reef, and Timpanogos Cave National Parks, with gatherings set for noon. While there are no publicly announced protests in Salt Lake City on March 3, 2025, staying connected with local environmental groups and social media communities can help you find ways to get involved.
