Grace & Alfonso’s Wonderful Water Engagement Session in La Jolla

Grace and Alfonso- full of wonder, adventure, and love! They are caring, cute, charming, and courageous. When I first talk with my clients, I like to get to know them a little- where do they like to spend time together, doing what, special interests, what makes them unique, etc. Quickly their love for water came up- going to the beach and a new found love for snorkeling! I had just ordered a new underwater housing rid- so this felt like the perfect opportunity to break it in. An underwater engagement session! Unfortunately, it didn’t arrive in time. Fortunately, I still had my old housing rig. So I busted that thing out for this special couple.

The water was freezing!! You wouldn’t know it from the pictures, but oof, believe me!! We braved the cold and swan in the murky water and secret tidepools. There was something truly majestic about how some of these shots turned out, with Grace’s dress, the reflections, and the lighting from above when we were underwater.

I love that we did a water session. It is so meaningful and symbolic of them, not only because they share their time and interests there, but also they are eloping in Hawaii next month! And I, too, have a special place in my heart for the ocean and love spending time there (and the desert, but y’all already knew that).
